Exiled Iranian crown prince and opposition figure Reza Pahlavi has warned U.S. President Donald Trump against entering into any new agreement with Tehran’s current ruling establishment. In an interview, he emphasized that any deal with the leaders of the Islamic Republic is likely to fail and could undermine the Iranian people’s aspirations for democracy.
Pahlavi argued that Iran’s current government is unlikely to shift from its ideological stance and would instead use any agreement as a tool to preserve its grip on power. He urged Washington to refrain from engaging directly with the ruling authorities and instead extend support to the Iranian people and pro-democracy forces seeking change. He also stressed that maintaining maximum pressure on Tehran remains the most effective strategy.
The long-exiled leader further stated that the Iranian people desire change and that the international community should respect and support that demand. According to him, no meaningful reform or lasting peace in the Middle East can be achieved through agreements within the framework of the current system.
Analysts suggest that Pahlavi’s remarks, coming amid Trump’s hardline stance, could add a new dimension to Washington’s policy approach toward Iran. Source: Reuters
