Allegations have emerged that the United States and Israel carried out airstrikes on at least six petrochemical plants across Iran’s Khuzestan province, causing extensive damage and injuring at least five people, according to a report by Iran’s state media Press TV; the report states that on Saturday (April 4) at around 10:45 AM, missile strikes were launched from the air targeting the eastern and western areas of Mahshahr city, hitting the Fajr 1, Fajr 2, Rezal, Abu Ali, Bandar Imam, and Amir Kabir petrochemical facilities; the public relations department of the Mahshahr petrochemical zone said that all personnel were evacuated for safety reasons and electricity across the area was cut off, though there are concerns that some casualties may have occurred, while emergency responders, medical teams, and firefighters are currently working at the scene and the situation is under control, and authorities have confirmed that no hazardous substances released from the sites pose an immediate threat to nearby cities; meanwhile, Iran’s retaliatory attacks on Israel are continuing, with the latest strike causing a fire in an industrial area in the southern Negev and damaging buildings in central Rosh HaAyin and Petah Tikva; the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the 94th phase of “Operation True Promise 4” targeted Israeli industrial and military installations as well as locations of commanders and military units, with the strikes carried out at dawn hitting southern, central, and northern areas including Tel Aviv; according to the IRGC, ballistic missiles such as Khorramshahr, Kheibar Shekan, and Emad were used along with suicide drones, and strikes were conducted on Dimona, Negev, Be’er Sheva, and Ramat Gan following a strategy of “deep and continuous attacks,” while also claiming that Israel’s multi-layered advanced air defense systems failed to intercept the missiles.
