Tehran University professor Foad Izadi has commented that Donald Trump’s recent use of offensive language and repeated threats toward Iran on social media indicate that the U.S. president is “losing control” mentally. In an interview with Al Jazeera, he presented this analysis of Trump’s current political situation and apparent instability.
According to Izadi, Trump is currently under intense political pressure. He had assumed that he could achieve “regime change” in Iran within just three days, but failing to reach that objective has left him deeply frustrated and angry. Izadi believes that this failure is reflected in Trump’s increasingly aggressive tone and use of inappropriate language.
Amid the ongoing crisis, Iran’s leadership reportedly hopes that Trump may eventually declare himself “victorious” and bring the conflict to an end. However, Izadi cautioned that reaching any political agreement with a leader like Trump would be difficult, especially one that could be beneficial for Iran.
He further stated that for any Iranian politician to hand over control of the country to someone like Trump would amount to “political suicide,” something the Iranian public would never accept. In light of Trump’s escalating threats, Iran’s policymakers are therefore proceeding with extreme caution in determining their next steps.
