On Saturday (April 25), the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism confirmed the appointment through an official notification, stating that the order issued in the public interest would take effect immediately; earlier, Sheikh Bashir Uddin had resigned from the post of Biman chairman citing personal reasons, and after the position remained vacant for a long time, this experienced business personality has been appointed as his successor; the organization’s board of directors includes Finance Secretary Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Majumder, Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Fahmida Akhter, Assistant Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanveer Khan, Engineer-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Army Major General Md. Hasan Uz Zaman, BNP’s International Affairs Secretary Barrister Nasir Uddin Ahmed Asim, Chairman and CEO of Policy Exchange Bangladesh M. Mashrur Riaz, Chairman of United Commercial Bank Sharif Zahir, Vice Chairman of DBL Group Mohammad Abdur Rahim, Additional Managing Director of ICMAB Md. Mamunur Rashid, Head of Chambers of Choudhury & Law Firm Barrister Khairul Alam Choudhury, Professor of Marketing at the University of Dhaka Abu Naser Ahmed Ishtiaq, and ex-officio Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Kaiser Sohel Ahmed.
