A delegation from Iran is set to visit Pakistan on Friday night, according to sources cited by Dawn, while the country’s state news agency IRNA has also confirmed the trip; IRNA reported that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is beginning a regional tour starting Friday that will include visits to Pakistan, Oman, and Russia, with the purpose of holding bilateral consultations, reviewing regional developments, and discussing what Iran describes as a “war imposed” by United States and Israel; according to Dawn, a small delegation led by Araghchi is expected to arrive in Islamabad on Friday night, while a U.S. logistics and security team has already reached the capital, though AFP reported that it remains unclear whether Araghchi or his team will meet any American officials during the visit, and there is no confirmation regarding the possible presence of Vice President JD Vance or other senior officials; meanwhile, security in Islamabad has been significantly tightened, with checkpoints set up across the city and roads near potential meeting venues partially closed; Dawn also noted that prior to the visit, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a phone conversation with Araghchi, during which they discussed U.S.-Iran tensions, ceasefire prospects, and ongoing diplomatic efforts, while AFP added that Araghchi also spoke with Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir; in a post on X, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry stated that both sides exchanged views on recent regional developments, ceasefire efforts, and Islamabad’s diplomatic engagement amid U.S.-Iran interactions, with Ishaq Dar emphasizing the importance of sustained dialogue and constructive engagement to resolve existing issues, while Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s consistent and constructive role, and both sides agreed to maintain close coordination moving forward.
