U.S. President Donald Trump has warned allied countries that the United States will no longer provide support as it once did, urging them to take action in their own interest. In a post on social media, he advised several nations, including the United Kingdom, to secure their energy supplies in the Strait of Hormuz.
On his own platform, Trump wrote, “You must learn to fight for yourselves. The U.S. will not be there to help, just as you were not by our side.” He also cautioned countries that have not joined U.S.-led operations against Iran to prepare for the current situation.
The Strait of Hormuz, connecting the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, is a critical global energy route, carrying nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil. Trump’s comments have raised fresh concerns about potential tensions in this sensitive area, as any disruption could significantly impact global oil markets.
He further noted that the United States has “plenty of jet fuel,” which other countries could purchase if needed, and claimed that Iran is “almost destroyed” and that the toughest work is already done.
However, international analysts have warned that directly calling on countries to take control of another nation’s resources violates international law and diplomatic norms, and such steps could trigger serious military risks, especially in strategic locations like the Strait of Hormuz.
As of now, no official response has been received from the UK or other allied countries.
