Military aircraft activity of the United States in the skies over the Middle East has increased significantly, according to Al Jazeera; the report states that most of the aircraft deployed to the region are transport and aerial refueling planes, including large military cargo aircraft capable of carrying around 77 tons of equipment and nearly 100 personnel each. According to available information, at least 12 transport aircraft were en route to the Middle East, some of which departed from Germany; at the same time, aerial refueling aircraft were also part of the deployment, with at least four tanker planes actively operating over Israel and surrounding areas. Amid this buildup, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that if Iran engages in any “misconduct” or takes a “bad step,” military strikes could be launched again; he made the remarks while speaking to journalists in West Palm Beach, Florida. He further claimed that relations between the United States and Iran are currently “very good,” that Tehran is interested in reaching an agreement, and that he has been briefed on a draft deal and is now awaiting its final written version; he also raised questions about Iran’s leadership. On the other hand, reacting strongly, Iranian figure Mohsen Rezaei labeled the United States a “pirate” and threatened to turn the Strait of Hormuz into a graveyard for U.S. forces; in a statement on social media, he said that the United States is the only country whose “pirate-like” behavior is backed by aircraft carriers, but asserted that Iran’s capabilities are no less. He also claimed that in the past, the downing of a fighter aircraft served as a warning, adding that if necessary, U.S. carriers and forces could face a similar fate.
