The United States has carried out sudden strikes in several areas, including Iran’s capital Tehran. While Tehran accused Washington of violating the ceasefire, US President Donald Trump rejected the claim, saying the operation was a response to attacks on American warships. Videos circulating on social media showed thick smoke covering parts of Tehran after explosions, while Iran’s air defense systems were seen responding to the assault. The attack came less than 24 hours after both Washington and Tehran had expressed optimism about a possible peace agreement, despite objections from Israel. Despite the renewed escalation, President Trump stated that peace negotiations would continue. In a post on Truth Social, he claimed the strikes caused significant damage to Iranian military facilities. Trump also said that three US destroyers successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz following the Iranian attacks. In an official statement, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) used drones, missiles, and fast attack boats to target American naval vessels. Tehran later acknowledged responsibility for the operation, saying the missile strikes were retaliation for attacks on Iranian oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. The United States has also confirmed reports of strikes near Abbas and Qeshm ports.
